Decorated

This past Sunday I spent a good bit of the day decorating the condo for Christmas.  We were throwing around the idea of having people over for the SEC Championship game Saturday, so we decided it would be best to hold off on putting the tree up since we are a tad limited on space.

For the 4th time in 5 years I decided to do an Auburn tree.  I didn't go all out this year with the toilet paper "garland" but I like it.  One day we won't have such a fake tree, but in the meantime I don't mind our current tree.  You can't really tell what the tree looks like with all the lights (I decided to put extra lights in addition to the ones already built in).  Christmas lights make me happy (when I was younger we used to say "ooh ahh, Christmas lights you're terrific" any time we saw a house with lights on it).  Every year Robert and I have been together we go out on an adventure to look at Christmas lights-hopefully this year I'll remember to take some pictures!

I also did my first attempt at a "flower arrangement."  I say it like that only because I don't do well with live plants or flowers.  I love them, and really would love to dabble in flower arranging.  However I don't have a green thumb the patience to put up with live plants and flowers.  So I did the next best thing...fake flowers from Michael's.  I think it turned out quite nicely though!

(Jenntern, do you recognize the pictures behind the table?)  Basically I love anything shinny/glittery- Robert says I'm a pigeon because I like sparkle so much.  You can't tell in the pictures (iPhone quality), but the vase sparkles, as do the flowers, greenery, and berries.  (I also have silver candles with glitter on the bottom in hurricane vases on our coffee table.)
I love my festive napkin holders.  My sister, Marybeth made Santa Claus belt napkin holders for our Christmas presents last year.  I've been waiting a year to put them out on the table!  I didn't take a close up picture, but they are in the one above.

Sidenotes:
  • Yes, our living room has 2ft stripes in dark blue and light blue.  I wish I could take credit, but Robert already had it that way when I moved in.  I can take credit for it looking less like a bachelor pad and more like home :)
  • No, that Auburn flag that you see in the tree picture is not up all the time...it was a decoration for the SECCG and we're keeping it up until the BCS Championship game in January.

Thanksgiving & Football Fun

Robert and I spent Thanksgiving up in Knoxville this year.  We decided to let Auburn's football schedule determine where we would spend the holiday.  The years that Auburn plays in Auburn after Thanksgiving, we'll stay in Atlanta so it's a shorter drive.

We got up to Knoxville Wednesday night, with enough time for me to make the pumpkin pies.  Robert was downstairs with my Dad, which I made the comment that it was probably better because he doesn't enjoy being around me in the kitchen.  I like to take my time and enjoy the experience, he just wants to get it done.  Well it was probably good that he was downstairs, because not 5 minutes after me making the comment to my mom and sister about our kitchen time, this happens...

It was everywhere-but gave us all a good laugh!  Me in the kitchen is always an interesting experience!

Thursday morning Robert and I sucker my sisters Michelle and Karen into doing an 8k with us in downtown Knoxville.  It was a fairly easy course, so I decided to make my goal time 47 minutes.  I slacked off a bit with my training for this run, so I figured a 9:30 min mile should be doable.  And of course I always want to beat Robert when possible (since I did beat him in the Peachtree Road Race 10K).  Michelle and Karen walked, which Karen beat Michelle by a 100th of a second.  And me beating Robert...

887 Katie Stachler 46:39
888 Robert Stachler 46:57

We actually didn't have a great run.  We both started entirely too fast and ended up wearing ourselves out.  By mile 3 we were on an 8:30 pace, which was great but didn't last much longer.  I caught up to Robert (we never run together, which I am just fine with), and he wasn't feeling that great so I walked with him for a little bit.  We were going to all take a picture together, but after sitting in the car for 40 minutes back to my parents house all we wanted to do was shower.

Friday we watched the Auburn vs. Alabama game at my parent's house in the Dougherty Pub.  What a great game!!  Robert was starting to give up hope that we would win, so we did a seat change switch at half time (Billy and I normally do a shaker switch when things are going poorly).  We were convinced that it was the game changing play.  Ok, probably not but we'll keep thinking it.

Auburn Grads
(not sure what's on the lense...snow?)

All in all, it was a great Thanksgiving weekend!  Hope yours was as well!

Phoenix

Just before the race began.  Our Valvoline client
and our Teacher of the Year.

So, what have I been doing this past week?  Let me share some pictures with you.  While I don't enjoy watching the car laps, I found the behind the scenes of NASCAR to be much more interesting.

The whole purpose of going out to Phoenix was to award a teacher who is involved with our Valvoline program as the Valvoline/ASE Teacher of the Year.  There was an award ceremony Wednesday night, but we flew the teacher and his wife out early to treat them to the race.

Pit Stop for Matt Kenseth
#17 Valvoline car

Carl Edwards, who won, is on the Roush-Fenway team.  Valvoline is a sponsor of Roush-Fenway, so we were able to go down into Victory Lane.  It was certainly a zoo, but really interesting to be apart of.

Carl Edwards in Victory Lane

They are quite organized in Victory Lane with their pictures.  When they first got in there, all the crew members and Carl threw feathers because their sponsor was AFLAC.  (If you look at the confetti sticking to the walls, they were actually baby hammers and wrenches.  Something that I would have never known if I wasn't there.)  And then for the next few minutes someone yells a sponsor and they all switch their hats, hold up a #1 with their finger and smile.  We actually did get to take a picture with Carl, but the official photographer took those.
My boss and I in front of the trophy

The highlight of my trip was going to Chino Bandido.  I absolutely love Diners, Drive Ins and Dives on Food Network-so while we were there we decided to look up a place to try.  Certainly a dive, but oh so good.  I got the carnitas, jade red chicken, jerk fried rice and refried beans.  I wish I took a picture of it, but I dove right in as soon as it got in front of me!

I'm a slacker, what can I say?

So remember in my last post I said how work is really crazy right now-yeah that would be why I haven't posted in awhile.  It's been so hectic that there are many days I don't even get on Facebook-not even for a second.  Shocking, I know!  So let me fill you in on what's been going on in our lives over the next few posts.

Halloween weekend Robert and I did a road trip with his parents to the Ole Miss Game.  This picture (take with Emily's fabulous camera) is the ONLY picture that was taken all weekend.  Actually, no that is not true.  It's the only one I care to share.  Let me begin...

The car ride starts off wonderfully, we hit to road at AIS (*ss in seat-a term commonly used in the Dougherty household) and make great time.  I was actually a bit nervous because this was going to be the first trip that it was just Robert and I and his parents- usually Robert's siblings are with us.  So, we're just outside of Birmingham when I decide to show Robert's dad the "hide ya kids, hide ya wife" video on my iPhone.  Apparently the last video that I was watching on there is the Natalie Portman sketch from SNL.  (If you aren't familiar with this video, just Google "Natalie Portman, SNL" I don't take responsibly for the horrible language).  Yeah, so that disclaimer I just gave you...I click on the youtube app and that comes up BLARRING.  I am telling you, I could not have gotten the video to start where it did had I planned it.  Let's just say some lovely words were said and I was called out for horrible language and my poor selection of "music."  Well shoot...good thing I'm already married into the family!!

We get into Oxford Friday afternoon and drive around campus for a little bit before heading to the square to get some dinner.  It was only about 5 when we got to the square so we decide to take a quick look around and then head to Ajax for dinner.  When we started our loop around, Ajax was empty.  By the time we made it back around 30 mins later, there was a good 30 min wait.  But I'm so glad we waited, because the food was delicious!  We're still talking about it weeks later!  After that we head to our lodging for the weekend-a cabin at a state park 30 minutes east of Oxford.

The cabin was actually great.  Sadly it had a nicer TV than Robert and I own, and had cable.  It was on a point of a lake, so the view was spectacular and the park was actually really nice.  We decide to call it a night early since we would have a long day of tailgating the next day.  Oh the next day...  I had noticed while getting ready for bed that the toilet was flushing slowly and a plunger was next to the toilet, and I thought in my head that it probably wasn't a good sign.  So Saturday morning roles around and I'm the 2nd person to get in the shower.  I notice that the toilet is now not flushing at all but I jump in the shower and decide to give it some time and deal with it after.  Well I get the plunger and start plunging, and plunging, and plunging.  It. wasn't. working.  So I go get Robert and see if he has any ideas.  His idea...for me to keep plunging while he takes a picture.  And then to get another one when his dad tries.  Yes, those were the only 2 pictures we actually took that weekend.  We ended up getting it fixed, but certainly wasn't the way we expected to start our morning!

Those would be the highlights of the weekend...it really was a lot of fun, and of course always better when Auburn wins!

Tomorrow I hop on a plane to Phoenix right at the beginning of the AU vs. UGA game.  I have to go out there for work and will be attending yet another NASCAR race (I never thought I would be able to say I've been to 3 different races...Bristol, 'Dega, and Phoenix).  We're hoping to go to atleast one Diner, Drive-in, and Dive location so I should have some good stories soon!  Maybe I won't wait a month to post again...

Friday's Five

So I tested this week's Friday five from my iPhone and email it to post.  Apparently it didn't work, so here is what I wrote on Friday.

Girls night: Wednesday I got together with my Atlanta girls for dinner. It was absolutely fabulous- great food and great friends! We all met at Tin Lizzy's, which we planned a month in advance b/c we all have such crazy schedules. We need to do it more often...especially since our numbers are going down. Originally there were 7 of us from auburn. Em D left for grad school and now is having fun adventures in Boston. Katie Davis Miers moved to nashvegas this summer for her hubby's promotion. And now nattie light is leaving us for b'ham and a great new job. :(

Auburn: I'm currently in the car on our way down to auburn, surprise surprise I know! This week is a tad different b/c my family will be coming down-minus the brother- for our annual family tailgate. It should be a lot of fun!!!

Work: Work is crazy busy right now! Hence why I've slacked the last 2 weeks on actually posting on Friday! The valvoline program I work on is currently taking up my time as I prepare certificates for the kids that took the test. In addition to that I was given my own program to manage. It's very small but I'm really excited about it!

13.1: I've decided to for sure do a half marathon in march! It's still a little way out, but I'm pumped! I've wanted to run one since college but have always talked myself out of it. Well no more!! I'm not going for any record setting times but would like to at least run the entire time. Maybe as it gets closer I'll set a time goal. The longest distance I've ever run was 8 miles...what's another 5 miles, right???

Sweetest day: did you know that tomorrow is sweetest day? What is sweetest day, you ask? It's a Midwest holiday-similar to valentine's day that you give someone who is sweet a small gift. The first time I celebrated sweetest day was with Katie Davis miers and Billy back in college. He bought me a lottery ticket so I could buy an Oscar de la renta dress and KDM a javy Lopez baseball card. Sadly I can't remember how or why we actually celebrated it, but I've been doing it ever since. Billy filled Robert in when we first started dating...he gave me a giant bag of sweedish fish and an atlanta atlas because I liked to get lost in Atlanta and go on "adventures"

Friday's (late) Five

Yup, I realize that I slacked off this week...sorry about that!

Robert's Birthday- Robert's birthday was last Thursday and we had 2 full days of celebrations.  Wednesday night we went up to his parent's house to celebrate with his family while his brother was in town.  Thursday we actually had a softball game, so we celebrated after with the team over some Mexican food.  I got him a new gameday shirt for his birthday since he didn't get a new one this year.  I was quite nervous on Saturday because I knew that if Auburn didn't win, I wouldn't see the shirt again for a game this season.  Good thing they won!!

Zoom Image

Football- How exciting is it that ALABAMA LOST TO SOUTH CAROLINA!!!  I hate Alabama with a passion-they are the only SEC team that I can never route for.  I almost felt bad for their Freshman kicker, almost.  And thank goodness Auburn pulled off the win on Saturday!  They better get it together for Arkansas!

Softball- Robert and I joined yet another softball team, this one on Sunday afternoons.  The one we are currently playing on is almost over-we have 1 rain out to make up and then 2 weeks of playoffs.  The Sunday team is actually for a guy we played with over a year ago who called out of the blue to ask us to play with them again.  No one is the same from the team when we played with them before.  We had a double header yesterday and won 1 game and lost the 2nd.  Robert was 1 base short of getting the series (a single, double, triple, and homerun).  He actually could have made it home on his last triple but the 3rd base coach stopped him.

Mario Brother's- Last week as a treat we decided to buy Super Mario Brothers for the Wii.  I'm a little addicted sadly.  The game is a combination of all the old ones from the oringal systems but so much fun.  I tend to get mad at my characters and have a potty mouth with them, which Robert gets a kick out of for some reason.  :)

RIP Dean Foy- The Auburn family lost a great man on Saturday.  Dean Foy passed away in his sleep Friday night/Saturday morning.  I was lucky enough to meet him on a few occassions and he was such a sweet man.  Truly loved Auburn and what the definition of the Auburn spirit really is.

Braves vs. Phillies

As I mentioned on Friday, my parents and Michelle came down to Atlanta to go the Braves vs. Phillies game.  We all met at the condo since it was the most central location.  I walk out in the hall to greet Michelle and the parents and find them ALL were Phillies garabage.  We hung out for a little while-Karen, Jamie, and Michelle hadn't seen the condo since we repurposed the main room-and then headed down to Turner Field.  Robert was our resident chef at the tailgate by cooking up onions, peppers, and brats.  The Braves ended up winning, and the Giants beat the Padres (not to be confused with the cubbies, who they were playing earlier last week and I thought they were still playing over the weekend).  Which means, the Braves are in the playoffs with the NL Wild Card!  They most likely won't go further than that-I would be shocked actually if they did.  They have a bunch of injuried players right now and I really don't think they can last very long.  I'll still be cheering for them of course!

Friday's Five

1. HS Football- Tonight we are going to the St. Pius X game (Robert's HS) with his parents.  I've been bugging Robert for 2 years about wanting to go to a game.  We finally found a weekend that they are playing at home and we aren't in Auburn.  I loved going to HS football games when I was living in Dothan; Emily and I went to 3 or 4 of them together.  For a pregame meal tonight we're going to a Cuban Restaurant that is supposed to be delicious (insert Fergie's song "D to the E to the L-I-C-I-O-U-S).  Robert and his parents have been before, but this is my first time.

2. Braves Game- I know this is one of last week's 5, but we're going to the Braves vs. Phillies game on Sunday.  The weather is supposed to be absolutely perfect!  Although the Phillies already clinched the NL East, Atlanta is still in the running for the Wild Card.  We need the Cubies to beat up on the Padres to help our cause if we can't win against the Phillies.  Every game this weekend is standing room only, so hopefully it will be a good game!

3. Feelin' Hot, Hot, Hot- I accidentally ate a Habanero pepper this week.  Robert made some amazing pork in the crock pot with onions and peppers.  One of the peppers he added was a Habanero pepper.  If you aren't familiar with these little demons, let me inform you.  My first experience with one was about a year or 2 ago when Robert was making chili.  They look so small and cute:

And I even make the comment that they are so small and cute and couldn't be that hot.  So Robert cuts off a small sliver and I put it in my mouth.  The SECOND it touches my tongue I immediately spit it out on the floor and go to the sink to run cold water in my mouth.  The burning doesn't stop for a good 5 minutes while Robert is laughing hysterically at me.
Fast forward to Wednesday night when we are enjoying the pulled pork, onions and peppers as nachos.  The moment I took a bite of this chip my mouth was on fire, and then my throat, and then my stomach.  I could honestly still feel it burning.  We didn't have any milk, so I'm eating plain sour cream to make the burning go away.  Lesson learned, look more closely if Habanero peppers are involved.

4. Fall- The fall weather is finally arriving!  Its so nice to walk to the car after work and not be sweating by the time you get to the car.  I'm trying to talk Robert into carving a pumpkin, but it would have to live at his parents' house since we don't have a porch or balcony.  I suggested the ledge outside of our windows.  Imagine the surprise of someone downstairs if it took a tumble from the 8th floor!

5. Crafty- Last year my sisters and I decided to make our Christmas gifts for one another.  It went over pretty well and out of the deal I got 2 blankets and some super cute napkin holders. (Yes 2 blankets, although they won't admit it Karen and Michelle think a lot alike and both made the blankets that you tie the ends together.) Well we decided to do this again this year.  I've been looking a lot at etsy.com this week for some inspiration on gift ideas.  If anyone has any ideas, let me know!!

Friday's 5

Ok, I'm totally stealing this from Jenntern but in an effort to actually post on a weekly basis I have no shame in admitting it.  Each Friday I'm going to post 5 things that's going on...I may even get creative and have themes, but let's not get to crazy.

Heading to the Plains: Robert and I purchased season tickets again this year.  Since we've done very well with saving money while we only have 1 income, we decided to keep the tickets instead of selling them.  This week our friends Becki and Aaron are coming down with us.  A bunch of Robert's friends from Auburn put together a tailgate on a weekly basis.  The best part is, Shane is one of those friends so in the fall I get to see my sister Marybeth fairly often.  There is an obnoxious all Auburn tailgate next to us, and we're always observing ways to make our tailgate like theirs.  It's been run by guys for so long that it's the essentials and nothing "decorative."  We hope to change that!

Braves vs. Phillies: My parents are coming down next weekend for the Braves vs. Phillies game.  It's going to be Robert and me, my parents, my sister Karen and her boyfriend Jamie, and my sister Michelle.  We thought it would be a better match up, not Braves being 6 games back.  But considering my Dad, Mom and Michelle are rooting for Philly and all the ATL folks are pulling for the Braves, it should get interesting.

Softball: Robert and I play on a softball team on Thursday nights for George's Bar and Restaurant (they have FABULOUS burgers, located in the Highlands).  We have a good team, yet we somehow manage to lose almost every game.  We may need to change our team name next year if we don't start winning some-George's may not want our publicity.  Last night the other team was up 13-0 in the first inning.  It doesn't help that one of the umps hates our team and always calls against us (last night a bad call cost us 7 runs in the first inning).

Productive: I'm very impressed with my lack of procrastination for Robert's birthday present this year.  His birthday isn't until October 7th, and I got his present on Wednesday!  Now my challenge is to hide it until then and figure out what we are going to do.  I'll tell you all after his birthday what I got him, just in case he decides to read this :)

Team Buckhead: I mentioned in yesterday's post about carpool.  A couple months ago 3 girls from work and I joined up to start carpooling to work (aka Team Buckhead).  We've been doing it since July and it's been great.  Not only am I filling up my car A LOT less often (round trip the office is 34 miles with a $.50 toll for me), but it makes dealing with the traffic much better.  It's amazing the difference driving in the traffic makes when you only have to do it 1 or 2 times a week!

Happy weekend!!

Addiction

I am completely addicted to this game right now. For anyone that has an iPhone, I highly recommend this game! You can get the free version-only 12 levels (search "Angry Birds Lite"). But for the great deal of $.99 you can get the full version. The full version is much more of a challenge but just as addicting. I'm currently on world 2 (each world has 100+ levels) of 5.

The girls in my carpool got me started, and convinced me to buy the full version. I'm so glad I did because I pass time in carpool with this game now. Yesterday there was an overturned vehicle on 400 sb and I didn't even mind because I had this wonderful little game. I know, it's sad.

My Best Friend's Wedding

Saturday, September 4th I got to see my best friend get married! First, the back story on how Mindy and I met-then some pictures.

Mindy and I met our freshman year at Daphne High School playing volleyball. She and I ended up being the only 2 freshman go to the varsity volleyball camp at the terribleness that is University of Alabama. (I'm not proud to say it, but for a short time I owned a UA Volleyball shirt and considered myself a fan of Alabama VOLLEYBALL. At the time, they had a better program and a better coach then Auburn.) Being the only 2 freshman, we got to room together and bonded on purple powerade and making it "snow" in our room (the room had popcorn ceiling, and we would jump on our bed and bring it all down)!

Camp ended and we became even better friends, and sharing another bond over our hatred of running in the off-season (when Mindy heard I was running a 10K in July, she asked me what happened to the girl who used to hate running just as much as she did!?!) as well as making up a dance to "Down Came a Blackbird." After our freshman year Mindy and her family moved to Montgomery-we didn't get to see one another nearly as much as we would have liked, but we still remained friends. I went to see her a couple of times when her HS volleyball team came in the area to play and then stayed with her in Montgomery a few times. Even if it was a few months or years between seeing each other, we always caught up quickly and never noticed the time lost.

My junior year at Auburn, while Mindy was at Montevallo, she got mono and had to move home for a semester. And her new home was Auburn, where her parents had moved-which meant a lot of hanging out, stalking boys, and Chappy's!

In February I was lucky enough to have Mindy stand by my side in my wedding-and the very next day Josh proposed! I absolutely love Josh-and he makes Mindy so incredibly happy. He is so caring and loving to Mindy and I was so happy to be apart of their special day.

Congratulations Mindy and Josh!!

Wrapping up August

Really the last 2 weekends weren't that eventful that I need to keep anyone in suspense (if anyone actually even reads this!). I just lost track of time and needed to leave :)

The third weekend in August was spent half in Atlanta and half in Milledgeville-home of Georgia College and State University (GCSU). Robert's sister is currently a senior there and has been wanting us to come down for awhile. Since fall is devoted to football in our house-we made a last minute decision to go down for a night. I was a tad nervous about being able to make it in a college town. I know I'm not old, but when it comes to my bedtime it's EARLY! While I don't have any pictures from the weekend, we had a great time. It ended with a late night slice of pizza-one of the best slices I've ever had!!

GCSU is a bit different from Auburn when it comes to night life though. First of all, they have a lot more bars in their "downtown" area. But also, when their bars close no one is out on the streets anymore. It almost becomes a ghost town!! In Auburn you always find those really drunk people hanging out outside of the bar or sitting on a curb waiting on their ride. It was so strange.

This past weekend Robert and I hit the road again and headed up to Tennessee to visit my parents. It was a nice relaxing weekend filled with good food, darts, ice cream, and some Wii action. We were hoping to get out on the boat, but when we pulled into the marina we pulled up the radar and rain was heading our way. Having been out on the boat before in a horrible storm-we opted to eat dinner first and do more of an evening ride. And of course before we left for the evening ride it started raining again! Oh well-we still had a great time!

This weekend will be spent on the loveliest village on the plains for some football and for Mindy and Josh's wedding! I'll be sure to take pictures this weekend and report back!!

It's been awhile...

Ok, so I know it's been awhile-this past month has been a whirlwind of a month and I can't believe tomorrow is actually September 1st! So...where have I been this past month? I shall tell you...

The first weekend in August Robert and I headed up to Nashville to see this wonderful girl get married. Stef was my roommate my senior year at Auburn and it was a blast!! Emily and Pat also came up from Atlanta and we all stayed with Katie and Tyler in their new condo. Sadly I didn't take any pictures of the weekend-but can always count on Em to get a few cute shots!

The second weekend in August I spent in Auburn for Mindy's bachelorette shower. We went to Sips and Strokes to paint a palm tree sunset and then over to Mindy and Josh's new house for some fun. All I can share is my finished product, because I currently can't find the cord to the camera.

I'll post more tomorrow on the last 2 weekends of August...

Catching up with Friends

This past Saturday Billy was in Atlanta so Robert and I got to hang out with him. We were all amazed that it's been since the wedding that we've seen each other. Billy commented on how the condo has a ladies touch to it now (I think the china cabinet and the rearrangement of furniture contribute to that). No longer Robert's bachelor pad!!

We started the evening by going to Taxco (our favorite Mexican restaurant) and some of these for the boys

I opted for a margarita, well a half pitcher which I thoroughly enjoyed all by myself!!

After a little while Gavin and Jessica joined us and then we all headed over to a birthday party for a friend. Gavin, Jessica and I all went to high school with Sara and she was celebrating her "golden birthday" of 27. She lives in the apartments off of Piedmont and Sydney Marcus. They have a great roof area, which is where the party was.

When we were leaving, Billy thought it would be a great idea to push every button in the elevator.

We were on "R" we were going to "LL"

All in all, it was a very fun night! I know Robert would love to have Billy back in Atlanta...good thing we went to unlimited text message because the two of them text more then I do!!

Fur Bus

It always makes me laugh when I see this beauty sitting outside the condo.

Apparently one of the drivers lives in our building and from time to time will run home before going out for the night. I want to know how often the actually clean the fur, because I strongly believe that the cure to some disease is in that bus. It's probably best not to know the answer to that.

Under the Sea

After living only 45 minutes from the beach for 14 years, being in a land locked city is rough at times. Every summer my friends or family would make weekly day trips down to the beach. We knew all the back roads to get us there in the fastest time possible and all the best spots.

I'd give anything to be at the beach right now!!

This was taken in St. Thomas after our snorkeling trip. We were wasting time before having to get back on the boat

My New Best Friend

Since June 12th Robert and I have had 2 places to call home. Our AC units died late last year. In early May we had an AC repair guy come out to the condo to tell us that both wall units are dead and that it would be $1,100 to replace ONE of them. (Side note, the building was built in 1952 so there is no central air, just 2 wall units-one in the main room, one in the bedroom). We were doing research on other options when the heat moved in on Atlanta quickly. So, my in-laws were nice enough to open their home to us and let us stay. We thought it would only be for a week-turned out to be almost a month before we finally got this beauty in our home:

When we turned it on last night around 5:45, it was 90 degrees in our main room (and 92 in the bedroom). When we went to bed around 11:30 it was 81 degrees in the main room, and 88 degrees in the bedroom! When I left for work this morning it was 75 degrees in the main room and 85* degrees in the bedroom. Such a HUGE improvement in 12 hours.

*yes, I realize that 85 is still warm, but when you have 4 fans blowing on you it feels bearable!!

I'll post pictures later of what our bedroom currently looks like with the fans. I am so happy to be back at home and not have to shuffle between two places. And so incredibly thankful for my in laws for letting us stay!!

Welcome!

For awhile I have been toying with the idea for creating a blog, but I've never thought I had enough "adventure" to write about. However, Emily and Kate both recently created one. Star and Jenntern have had ones for awhile now, and I love reading all of them! So, here I go!

Please bare with me as I figure out the whole blogging world!
